7 Years Of R&B

Rag & Bone 7th birthday 🥳 🙏

As I sit and look at this picture I can’t help but start to look back at all the pictures from day one to right now on our social media. The journey myself and @rpaterson have been on (and are still on) has been incredible.

This picture instantly takes me back to my personal feelings I was going through at that time. Opening my very own business with my brother Robert was exciting, nerve wracking and to be honest, terrifying! All the questions you start to ask yourself are running through your mind, “am I good enough, will people come and find us, are our ideas as good as we think, have I made the right decision for me and my family?” Deep down you know the answers to these questions and if you truly believe in your ability in the industry then things will be fine.

Those early days have shaped me as a business owner. I’ll never forget those days, that hunger to be the best in the city has never left me. I use the same feelings that drove me then to deliver the best service I possibly can now. Something that me and Robert have passed on to every team member that has worked with us over the years and present day.

Our passion for this trade and supreme customer service has allowed us to grow into a 4 chain business. Something that we’re extremely proud of. Each shop is situated in a busy borough of one of the best cities in the world. They all have their quirks and stand out features and are individual. The teams are individual too, whether it’s the cool chilled vibe of dundas street, the young bouncy feels from bruntsfield place, the hustle and bustle of the old town at Jeffrey street or the busy financial district of morrison street. We have a shop and team catering for all types of people and is inclusive for everyone to enjoy.

It’s not all sunshine and roses though, inevitably people move on and nothing lasts forever. Over the years we have lost good members of the team. Whether they’ve chosen a new shop to work in, a new city to live in or a new country to emigrate too! Working with people that closely it’s impossible to not form a bond with them. Finding the right people and training them to a high standard to be able to deliver the Rag & Bone service is a tough job. Myself and Robert take great pride in the part we’ve payed in our staff’s development, new and old members. We’d like to personally thank everyone that has helped us grow as a brand over the last 7 years and wish them all the best with their future careers in barbering.

So what does the next 7 years look like at Rag & Bone? I believe we will continue to grow the team. We will continue to give back to the industry that has given us so much by training the next generation of barbers. We will strive to be better than the last cut. We will be at the forefront of style and design within our shops. We will always challenge the status quo and try new things to better the R&B experience. We will always put the client first and never sacrifice quality of service. But above all else, because of you the client, we will be here to do all these things!

Thank you for choosing us to look after your hair. Thank you for your continued support and thanks for making “two wee bams” dreams come true! 🥳❤️🖤🤍
